Visalakshi Talakokula Professor Department of Civil Engineering

Dr. Visalakshi Talakokula is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at Mahindra University École Centrale School of Engineering. Prior to joining MU was the founding head of the Department of Civil Engineering, Bennett University, Gr. Noida. She is honorary secretary of Indian Association of Structural Engineers (IAStrucE) and Honorary treasurer of Indian concrete institute (ICI).  She is Governing council member of women in science and engineering (WISE) India. She has a rich academic experience of more than 18 years and 5 years with industry. Her research interests include development of sustainable construction materials, Green concrete, structural health monitoring using piezo sensors. Her research has been published in peer reviewed international and national journals, She has also co-authored a book “Piezoelectric Materials, Application in SHM, Energy harvesting and Bio Mechanics” (Wiley publication). She is Editorial board member of International Journals, Academic member of Athens Institute for Education and Research (ATINER), Athens, Greece and reviewer of various International journals. She has received various awards, among them include Best Paper award at Corrosion conf. and Expo. CORCON 2012, Best Paper award at Nation Civil Engineers Symposium (IIT Bombay) 2013, Best poster award at ICTRAM 2012. 

She is technical member of international committees of Union of Laboratories and Experts in Construction Materials, Systems and Structures (RILEM) and Technical Member of Indian Concrete Institute (ICI) for framing guidelines of water proofing systems.
