About the Contest

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is an important driving force for a new round of scientific and technological revolution and industrial transformation. In order to exchange the experience of AI education among high school students and to lead the exploration of science and technology innovation with AI, we are floating a series of contests in AI from July 16th to July 23rd, 2020.
The AI Contest aims to build a platform for discovering diverse applications for diverse segments of our ever-evolving society.

The objective is to

  • Harness creativity and expertise of students
  • Enable possibilities and enhance opportunities for students to deliver innovative solutions to India’s daunting problems

Submission Requirements: Project Ideas

Submissions are only project ideas. Heavily focus on the practicality and the usefulness rather than the technical details of the proposed project. The project topic should be chosen from the given themes only. Submissions can be in Teams. Team can comprise of maximum three students.

Specifications:

Should strictly fall under the field of AI under the given themes. More score is given to projects which are not only sound in logic, but also creatively heavy.

Idea submission in a poster & presentation. Describe the idea behind the project and a simple implementation process - Consulting experts, data collection from various sources, building a model (A very basic representation), distributing the product and future improvements.

Contest

Sample Project Ideas

  • AI Solutions in Arts
    • Generate audio descriptions of popular art for the visually challenged using current available data from artbeyondsight.org.
    • Generate new content of iconic people’s voice by using current available content. Deepfakes audio. Can be extended to video for purposes such as news casting.

Assessment & Evaluation:

  • Problem definition — What business problem are we trying to solve? How can it be phrased as an AI problem?
  • Data — If AI is getting insights out of data, what data we have? How does it match the problem definition? Is our data structured or unstructured? Static or streaming?
  • Evaluation — What defines success? Is a 95% accurate AI model good enough?
  • Features — What parts of our data are we going to use for our model? How can what we already know influence this?
  • Modelling — Which model should you choose? How can you improve it? How do you compare it with other models?
  • Experimentation — What else could we try? Does our deployed model do as we expected? How do the other steps change based on what we’ve found?
